What is iNIBP?

iNIBP is Nihon Kohden's non-invasive blood pressure measurement technology algorithm that uses linear inflation measurement method to complete the measurement while inflating the cuff.

Compared with conventional measurement methods, iNIBP takes less time to measure and has a lower target inflation pressure, making measurement quicker and gentler and less burdensome for patients and carers.

Comparison of the iNIBP inflation method to the conventional deflation method

Conventional step-down method
The cuff is rapidly inflated to the target inflation pressure, and then deflated step-wise while sensing oscillations.

iNIBP inflation method
The cuff is slowly inflated to a lower inflation pressure while simultaneously sensing oscillations.

The advantages of iNIBP are best demonstrated when a patient's blood pressure is varying, for example during surgery. As iNIBP senses blood pressure variation while the cuff is inflating, it can complete the measurement in a shorter amount of time without applying excessive and unnecessary pressure to the patient.
